Vocation

The word vocation comes from the Latin word, ‘vocare’, meaning to call. Every baptized person shares the universal call to holiness as a response to God’s eternal love in different ways. This call requires a free response in faith and obedience. Dominican life is one way of answering this call to a fulness of life in Christ through vows of poverty, chastity and obedience.

The Dominicans all over the world, promote the spiritual and intellectual heritage of the Catholic Church through various ministries. The Dominican friars, sisters, nuns and lay men and women striving in their own way to imitate the example of saint Dominic and live the gospel values at their respective places.

During the formation period a candidate is accompanied and sustained in his journey by the formator and the community residing in that place.

Come and See and Interviews:

It is proposed to each interested young man to share his desires with the Dominican family particularly with Dominican friars. If you are curious enough about religious life, you can come to us and appear for the interviews on the given and suggested dates. Hopefully with the aid of liturgy, common life, prayer, adoration, meditation and study of the word of God, you can in simplicity and joy discern more precisely your call for Dominican life.

Louis Hall Dominican House of Formation and Pre-Novitiate Multan:

Subsequently the interview’s procedures and requirement. We will send an invitation letter to you to start formation program at Louis Hall Dominican House of Studies Multan. You will begin proper graduation study program by taking admission in the surrounding colleges which will last for four years. You will be also commencing the task of Dominican way of life by studying the life of saint Dominic. After receiving the civil graduation degree, the intensive pre-novitiate course will be offered, which will minimum last for six months.

St. Dominic Novitiate Warispura Faisalabad:

After the initial studies and pre-novitiate program you will be starting as a novice at St. Dominic Novitiate Warispura Faisalabad for one year. It will provide you the rhythm of a Dominican family, to know the tradition of St. Dominic and the Order of Preachers. You will be having opportunities to meet and talk with the people who come to attend masses in the Church, the sisters and the friar priests in the community. At the completion of the Novitiate year you will receive Dominican habit and make simple profession for three years.

St. Francis Xavier Seminary Lahore:

After the simple profession you will be encouraged to start philosophical studies at St. Francis Xavier Seminary Lahore for three years. St. Francis Xavier Seminary is affiliated with the Urbaniana Pontifical University Rome. You will be residing at Ibn-E-Mariam Pak Arab Dominican House, Lahore. There you will also get opportunities to meet people of other faiths at the Peace Center and to attend Sunday masses with the faithful.

Dominican House of Studies Karachi:

After the completion of philosophical studies at Francis Xavier Seminary Lahore, you would be promoted to theological studies at the National Catholic Institute of Theology Karachi for four years. There you will get opportunities to have experience of wounded reality, to teach catechism, preaching and pastoral exposure to different parishes. As soon as you complete theological studies you will be sent, at least for six months, for pastoral exposure, in order to have some experience before the ordination to Priesthood.
