Fr. Gerard Timoner, O.P., Master of the Order of Preachers, invited the Dominican Family to undertake a Triduum of Penance on October 4-6 and 6 in the preparation for the celebration of the feast of the Most Holy Rosary on October 7 to recite five decades of the glorious mysteries of the Holy Rosary. The purpose of these days of prayer and penance are offered especially for those who have died in the pandemic, for their families, for those suffering, and those who work to help them. On the feast day to Holy Rosary, we united to pray the Glorious Mysteries of the Rosary. Following the instructions of the words of Master of the Order on 7th October 2020 Prior Vice Provincial Rev. Fr. Younas Shahzad OP organized a day of Prayer and Penance at Ibn-e-Mariam House of Studies, Pak-Arab, Lahore. In which the whole Dominican Family of the Lahore participated. The procession was started at 6 P.M from Peace Center to St. Albert Chapel with candles. Then Deacon Perkash Dominic OP gave the introduction in which he highlighted the purpose of this spiritual gathering. Fr. Younas gave the faith nourishing reflection on the importance of the Holy Rosary in our life. He also quoting the famous words of Pope Pius XI (1857-1939), he said, “The Rosary is a powerful weapon to put the demons to flight and to keep oneself from sin. If you desire peace in your hearts, in your homes and in your country, assemble each evening to recite the Rosary. Let not even one day pass without saying it, no matter how burdened you may be with many cares and labors.” He further said I believe by praying the Holy Rosary we can get the victory over this Covid-19. In front of the Blessed Sacrament whole Dominican family offered their special intercessions. The vote of thanks was expressed by Rev. Almas Silas OP the superior of the Lahore Community. He appreciated the efforts of Rev. Fr. Younas Shahzad OP for uniting the whole Dominican family at one platform. He also admired the hard work of Rev. Fr. Patrick Peter OP, Fr. Nasir Emmanuel OP and Deacon Perkash Dominic OP for all the arrangements of this special evening. At the end of the program a meal was served to all the participants and cake cutting ceremony was held. All the Dominicans were encouraged to continue the recitation of the Holy Rosary which is a powerful weapon against the heresies.
